I am very excited to announce my new bake in honour of Mother's Day. After the success of my Gin & Tonic lime cake last year, I thought I would stick with the alcoholic theme and try a new bake with sparkling wine.
What better pairing is sparkling wine and strawberries and in this bake, it compliments perfectly with the light vanilla sponge. The cake is baked in a bundt tin which gives it this different shape to a usual cake, giving it a more classy and special look. If you are serving this cake for desert, why not slice up some fresh strawberries to fill the hole and perhaps serve with clotted or ice cream!
I have chosen Cremate de Loire for this bake. It is a French sparkling wine from the Loire region that uses the same wine making method as Champagne. It is smooth & floral and works well mixed into the cake batter and also drizzled as a syrup into the cake after baking. And hey, I won't judge you if you enjoy a slice of this cake with a glass of sparkling wine on the side (in fact, it would be rude not to!). The cake is topped with melted White Belgian Chocolate and freeze dried strawberries.
This cake makes an alternative gift to flowers and can be given to your Mum or perhaps someone special in your life who you want to say 'Thank You' to for all that they do for you.
The cake will be served on a cake board and displayed in a white cake box.
What better way to celebrate someone this Mother's Day!!!
